Another Year Older…

Birthday Candles

It seems like shortly after writing a post with the words “my workload is about to ease” a tonne of new projects land on my lap! I’m not complaining of course - I like to keep myself busy - but my head seems to be throbbing more often than not…

I think I should be honest with you all though… I’ve spent the last couple of weeks seriously considering retiring from blogging. I just don’t seem to have the commitment or spare time to make this journal as successful as it once was.

Ironically it was my birthday today, meaning that it’s been a whole year since I blogged for the very first time. So much has changed in the last 12 months though - from testing positive for HD to the launch of Britster, and everything in between.

I guess the bottom line here is that I’m not really sure what to do with this blog. All I know is that I don’t intend to spend the next six months sporadically posting comeback messages - that’s just not fair to the people who take the time to visit! Perhaps I should buckle to pressure and monetise the site - maybe the promise of financial reward will help me focus? Or perhaps all it needs is a visual reboot..?

I need some opinions here… Have you ever considered dropping your blog? How do you keep your interest? What do you think I should do??

Reboot Complete

Reflections Letter Text

Ladies and Gentleman… Allow me to welcome you to the restyle of the century! My new theme - almost four weeks (part-time) in the making - brings a fresh new look to my blog.

What you’re looking at is based on the Dark Theme, which was originally designed by Wolfgang Bartelme. His design was converted to WordPress by iLEMONed, widgetized by Diego Ciconi, and then giving a graphical thrashing by yours truly!

I hope you like what I’ve done with the place - and I really look forward to your comments (positive or constructive) and feedback on what you like or dislike as far as functionality goes! Oh, and if you’re reading this via my feed then you probably have no idea what I’m talking about - so come and see the site in person! ;)

CSS Refresh Complete!

Five days ago I set up this blog with Dean J Robinson’s fantastic Redoable Wordpress Theme. I knew I was going to end up restyling it a little - Dean’s theme is incredibly popular, and I didn’t want my blog to look like loads of others!

So, the refresh is now done - and I’m quite happy with the results! I’d like to build my own original theme from the ground up eventually, but until I get time to do that I’m happy to base my site on one of the best!

What do you think then? Does anyone else give a damn about it apart from me?!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Well, I finally turned thirty today. It seems an awfully long time since I celebrated my twentieth birthday, and so much has happened to me since then. So I thought to myself, what better way to commemorate such a great milestone than with the launch of a new blog?

Firstly, I’d like to thank Dean J Robinson for his Redoable Wordpress theme - which will no doubt be tweaked and hacked to within an inch of it’s life by the time I’ve finished with it!

So who am I then? My name (somewhat obviously) is Paul Enderson, and I live in a town called Harlow, which is in Essex in England. There I enjoy time with my wife Abi and my three daughters, and I love all four of them dearly. I have a supportive family on my wife’s side, and a largely mentally unstable one on mine.

I’m currently a freelance web and graphic designer, and have been since I gave up my last full-time job in September of 2006. My specialist areas are those of usability, standards-compliant coding, and stylish design.

I actively run another blog, dedicated to Windows Vista Sidebar Gadgets and their development. I also have a few other projects that are currently bubbling away on the back-burner, or still waiting to see the light of day.

Like pretty much everyone else on the planet, I have shit going on in my life that I’d rather wasn’t happening. For example, I’m currently in the middle of a very long testing process for Huntington’s Disease. Now, I only found out about a year ago that I might be at risk of this, thanks to my aforementioned lunatic relations. It sucks basically.

So, what’s going to be included in this blog? Well, I’d like to think that this will be a place where I can log what’s going on in my life, along with the things that interest and excite me. It should end up being a place for personal reflection, be interesting enough for a complete stranger to read, and offer me a way of recording memories and events that would otherwise be forgotten.

If all that sounds like it might be interesting to you, and you think you can ignore my occasional rants, then by all means stick around and I look forward to your company.
