Work Overload!

Just a quick note to apologise for the sudden drop in posts this week, which unfortunately will continue until after the weekend. My workload has reached an all-time high - with Britster requiring some final adjustments before it hits beta, two new WordPress sites to design and build, and a data capture microsite to develop - and all by Monday! Aaarrgh!

If my head doesn’t explode from the stress, then I’ll be back to form on Monday evening. ;)

11 July 2007 - Update: make that Wednesday night… ;)

FeedBurner Pro for Free

Are you using FeedBurner to push your RSS feed to your readers? If you’re not then this is why you should!

I’ve used FeedBurner since I started this blog, but I haven’t quite been able to justify the cost of using their pro features - so I was delighted to find out that Google (the new owners) will be making an announcement later today that they will be offering them for free! :)

TotalStats and MyBrand, both previously for-pay services, are going to be offered without charge. Stats Pro will allow you to see the number of people that have clicked on the individual content items in your feed, and also see the reach of your feed (an estimation of the number of subscribers that interact with your feed content on a daily basis).

MyBrand lets you use your own domain name for the feed, instead of the FeedBurner one. Totally pointless for most bloggers, but useful for companies that are thinking about running a corporate blog.

Edit: read all about it on the FeedBurner Blog.

Spin

It should be pretty obvious by the header that I’m a DJ and seriously into my music - so when I see a post titled video, time, sound and tangible interface pop up on one of my daily reads, I can’t help but be intrigued! As it happens, this is an awesome short film called SPIN by Double Edge Films.

The clip - in which a mysterious DJ is sent to a busy city block to mend a series of tragic events that occur in our everyday lives - is the winner of 35 film festival awards worldwide, and it’s not hard to see why. Clever, well-shot, touching, the list goes on… Enjoy! :)

This one’s worth watching twice - and let me know what you thought! :)

New Design Makes the Showcases

I’d just like to convey my thanks to whoever submitted my new blog design to the various CSS showcase sites. It’s made CSS Mania, CSS Drive, CSS Based, Most Inspired and screenfluent.

As a regular visitor to these showcases, I know just how impressive some of the featured sites can be. I’m very flattered that somebody felt my site deserved that kind of accolade - and honoured to see my site on them! :D

Britster - Call for Beta Testers

Britster Beta Testing

I’ve been working on Britster now for a number of months now, and the project is finally nearing completion! Everything’s in place to make this the biggest thing to happen to Social Networking in Britain for a long time - and I for one can’t wait to see this baby fly! ;)

During the first week of July the site will enter a ‘Private Beta’ phase, during which all of the little niggles will be resolved. Once this is done, the site will move to a ‘Public Beta’ a month later - which will see the doors open to members of the public.
