Huntington’s Treatment
California based biotech company Avicena Group is to launch a clinical trial for a new drug therapy, HD-02, with the ultimate aim of delaying the onset of this incurable and fatal disease. If successful, this compound would signal a significant advancement in the treatment of Huntington’s.
Huntington’s is a genetic disease with no known cure, attacking the central nervous system and causing uncontrolled movements, loss of intellectual abilities, and emotional disturbance. The eventual outcome is death.
An estimated 150,000 Americans carry the Huntington’s gene and they will eventually develop the deadly disease. Approximately 35,000 people currenty suffer from Huntington’s.

Paul,
The stat’s are just unbelieveable!! 150,000 Americans carry the gene and 35,000 actually have the disease!
Absolutely stunned!
Nuts, innit?!?
The positive side-effect from numbers like that though, is that there are enough people suffering for the research companies to spend time and money doing what they can.
Huntington’s can be grouped in with other similar diseases - like Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons, etc. This means that a treatment (or cure) for one could potentially help another.
Paul,
As always my thoughts are with you and yours!
