Testing Complete

While I’m working on a proper post for later today, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the people who sent me best wishes, support and prayers for my day of Huntington’s tests - which happened yesterday (and was also why I didn’t post anything yesterday). Your kind thoughts were truly appreciated - and one in particular (thanks Zep) reverberated around my brain all day.

So, the tests are now complete. It was a little scary - I’ve done my research, and recognised their reasons for each of the things they did. All that remains now is for me to get the results - and that will be happening on June 1st.

Glad to hear the experience was not too humiliating. I always feel like a guinea pig when all this med-tech stuff is applied to my body.
And ‘waiting’ is the thing you’ve got to learn if the doctors are unto you. Entering a hospital is like entering another dimension. Time is suddenly not important, your mere existence is reduced to statistics…

Too true mate. I didn’t leave feeling like I had ‘failed’ anything though - at least the psychometric stuff if nothing else - but yes, it did feel like I was back at school doing mathematical quizzes for much of it!

    Paul,

I wasn’t 100% sure which way to play the day to be perfectly honest! I was thinking if I acted as tho it was a normal day I could appear heartless to your situation, and if I went the other way and was sympathetic I could appear to be too soft….. so as a mark of respect to you and yours I let you be so you could spend the day with the family with interruptions.

    All the best!

I know mate. A lot of people (online and IRL) have been acting a bit differently around me since all this started! I think I’d probably do the same if the roles were reversed…

[…] know whether it’s turning 30 that’s done it, or if it’s more to do with my Huntingtons testing, but I found myself yesterday thinking about organising a reunion of the people I went to Primary […]
